I want to play Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey and Pokemon Heart Gold, but I have problems with both. Pokemon freezes and Strange Journey won't save. The firmware I'm using is V1.08b. Pokemon Heart Gold has anti-piracy on it. You may need to upgrade your firmware or get a new card. http://www.r4rts.cn/download-en.htm

that cart looks like a r4 clone but on there its got a website on the bottom an says r4i you have the old version of the r4i if im not mistaken therefore will not have new firmware for your r4i you need to have 1.4v cart if it says this on your cart i apoligise
Download the 1.20b kernel, extract to root, play. Good luck. BTW, the R4 SDHC always keeps updated. My first generation R4i is nothing more then a game-playing device with almost no updates...
So the only way I can play newer games is to upgrade to a newer card? I tried using 1.20b but my r4 can't use it, it says I need newer hardware.
Then you need to use 1.09c... I have the same problem And yes, it's the only way. You CAN (and I say CAN) try using YSmenu, but more or less you have no luck. But if you want to use that card, use 1.09c.
