R4i files

Ok i can't get my r4i to work. I got the 2 downloads from r4ultra.com(firmware and kernel) but i get a black screen at the bottom that says something about troubleshooting. I delet everything from my micro sd(4gb) after that then put it back on and it does the same thing. What is rong and where should i download my update and kernel ect. ??? :'(

 

You need to download and put the correct Firmware files on your card.

The best place to get them is at the official website listed on the packaging with your card. The R4i has many copies and clones, and many of them will not work with the firmware from the others, so you have to make sure you have the correct files.

 

go to this web site http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ then go down and on the right list look for R4 Ultra / R4i (r4ultra.com) then click on 1.54 in English and download the extract it and paste it onto ure r4i

 

Neither of those methods work

 

Extract the file, and take all the folders and files out of the ENG or English folder first. Then put them on your card.

If it still doesn't work, then you aren't using the right firmware files.

 

But the kernel from the r4ultra website is not a file but the update is. Better yet how do i put on my update so i can do something on it.

 

Okay i think i know what it is how should my kernel and firmware be zipped or a file whatelse and where should i get them from

 

They have to be unzipped, and you need to put all the files and folders on the Root of your MicroSD, not in any folder. If they come in a folder called "ENG" or "English" then you need to take everything out of that folder and put it on the Root of your MicroSD.

 

kay because my update comes in zipped but my kernel comes in just one file or whatever it looks like a digital piece of paper and it is an unknown file shud i put it as anything else like bac. jpeg. rar. nds. ect

 

Where did you download the kernal from? It may be a compressed file that you don't have a program for

 

I got one from r4ultra.com and the zipped one with more files at the link in this form oh and do i need a ds to update me firmware if my dsi is v1.4

 

If your DSi is at 1.4, and your flashcart doesn't support it, but has an update to support it, you will need a DSi without 1.4 firmware, or a DS/DS Lite.

 

How do i run the upadte though does it do it auto or manually

 

Depends on the update.
The ones I have seen are an NDS file that you have to run like you would a Game or Homebrew.

I could help, but the R4i from that particular company is probably not the one that releases the 1.4 compatible cards.

The ones that don't say probably don't work, and anyways, THERES MORE. R4i is now clone city.

 

Will other updates for other cards work on other cards?

 

No, different cards, different loaders, different firmware kernels. Maybe, if they are from the same company, but I doubt it.
I may have read a fix somewhere, but I don't remember where. Sorry.
