R4DS save back up not working

It seemed pretty obvious to me all I needed to back up my saves was to copy/paste the .sav file on my computer. I did so, and formated my microSD card, put the games back in and my back up .sav files, wich have the exact same names as the roms still, and the game will act as if they weren't there, all I get is always new game.

Make sure they are in the same folder as the ROM. And double check your names

GAME.nds
GAME.sav

 

Done and done.
Same names and in the same folder and still not working.
If I start a new game it is going the replace the old .sav with a new one with the new game I started.

 

You didn't change flashcarts at all, did you? Maybe your new flashcart needs a different save file format?

 

Try reinstalling the firmware, and then re-add the save files.
