    I bought my nephews and mom all R4 cards years ago. I haven't been able to get them to work for a while. I keep downloading the latest kernel then download the winzip but I can not get them to play once I download them. The latest kernel I have tried is R4 V1.80 English. Once I put it in the DS it comes to the loading screen but it never loads. I have updated the card successful several times using the same technique I'm using but now it doesn't work. Please help...

    Firmware v1.80 I be leave to be for R4i cards .

    Assuming you have the old R4 original ? , then try Wood R4 V1.62 http://www.r4wood.com/pages/wood-r4-kernel.html

    Direct DL: http://www.r4wood.com/Kernel/e/Wood_R4_v1.62.rar

    "Strays on loading screen"

    Give cMicroSD Chip back specks a clean , and back of R4 specks a clean using cotton bud , some times it may help .

    Thanks for the help, however it didn't work. I downloaded the r4 v1.80b. On my SD card I have a folder with "games, moonmemo, moonshl2, R4i menu, and R4.dat" Could it be an issue with the "games" folder? I also tried downloading the wood R4 V1.62 with the same results, a big fat "loading" sign that doesn't go away. I really hope I can figure this thing out, my nephews loved the R4 cards when they worked.

    Agree with Jhon; offering just an "R4 v.1.80" isn't helpful at all. Especially when OP also mention the SD Micro also contain "R4imenu.nds" and "R4.dat". Exactly which R4 you have is imperative. However whichever your cart is, the kernel/firmware is obsolete, thus need third party firmware to load/play newer game rom.

    Can anybody message me where I can obtain a genuine R4I card for the DSI XL 1.4.5 firmware in the UK?

    Please do not hijack other's topic by asking irrelevant question. The OP here is asking for support assistance, not purchase inquiry. Check ShopTemp if you must.

    You're first card is - http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/

    But you could go with download his full firmware - http://gbatemp.net/threads/retrogamefan-updates-releases.267243/

    From -> http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=32958

    But I'm sure, from what you say, give the back of the DS a good blowing into the Slot1 , and clean the microSD pins at back , also R4-i card pins a clean using a dry clof are cotton bud .

    As for you're other card, very bad clone, of the original R4 .

    Jhon thanks for the advice. I'm not the most technical person. So like I have said, I have downloaded the v1.80b. You refer to dual booting and the YSMenu. Is this in addition to the v1.80? You may have to talk dumb terms and walk me through this. So far on my card I have "games, moonmemo, moonshl2, R4i menu, and R4.dat" What am I missing?

    I have no experience in R4 clones sadly, Maybe best to join up on gbatemp and ask in the Retrogamefan topic .
