R4 Problems!

    Hello, I've got a new R4 chip, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've got the games onto the memory card but then when I put the complete R4 into the DS. It starts to load, but then before I get to any menu, it gets stuck and just presents a black screen with the words 'Loading...' on it. I don't see how I can update the firmware if I can't even get the menu screen.

    You update the firmware from your PC. Not your DS (although it is possible). Reformat MicroSD, and reinstall with latest firmware from http://www.linfoxdomain.com/ds/.

    Insert the memory card into the computer again, find it in explorer or under "my computers". Right click on it and choose "Format". Please notice that this will delete everything on it.

    Once it's done then get the right firmware, make sure you get the right one, it's tricky with the R4 because there are several carts from different manufacturers that use that name. You can get a comprehensive list of firmwares here: http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/

    Put the firmware on your memory cart, then try running it, if it works then put your games on it and enjoy. If not then we'll need more details about your memory cart and possibly a picture of the flash cart. (to see if we can check which R4 it is)

    Thanks for all your help, I didn't realise there was so many different types of R4, I've managed to get the right one and get it working, so big thanks to you!
