R4 not running any games

Hiya sorry all this is new to me even tho i have had my R4 for nearly a year.
atm none of the games i am trying to download will run on it.
Do you need to update the software every now and then, if yes where would i find the correct software to download to my R4.

What type of R4, They are so many?

 

all my chip says is R4, sorry i am usless at anything tech but i think it runs on moonshell

 

If its R4 revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) then it's kernal v1.18 from www.r4ds.com

But the newer kernal is

Its is made for, R4 revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS)

If you wish to use both kernal v1.18 and ysmenu on your ds then

Delete exsisting files, Place them onto your card

Delete TTMenu folder, And place on the new TTMenu folder from DSTT v1.17a12 For R4 Original User's

While on your ds play games as normal, Or run YSMenu.nds for ysmenu!
