r4 keeps corrupting my mirco sd card

thi si the second card my r4 has corrupted. it plays some games about four times then it will stop loading when you turn it on. my computer wont recognize the card after this happens.
i am not made of money and cant buy another micro sd card. i dont know what im doing wrong. please help me!

 

i dont no how to fix this but u can get the sd card to continue to work all u do is download the lastest version of your flashcart brand and put all files in 1 by 1 (that appear when u open the folder)

 

when i put it in my computer it wont even mount on my desktop b/c my computer doesnt recognize any of the files on it and wont lte me access them.

 

yeah time for the bad news......



You gotta format the sd
T.T (All Files Will be Gone)

So connect the sd card to your computer
1. ---> Open My Computers
2. ---> Click on the usb port slot you connected it to
3. ---> it will say format then you click ok/yes or whatever

4. ---> After thats done download your lastest firmware
5. ---> then put the _system_ in first
6. ---> wait for it to finish
7. ---> repeat step 5 and 6 for moonshl, _DS_MENU.DAT, _DS_MSHL.NDS

If the MicroSD can't be recognised by the computer, he can't format it. Also, you can't format it if you are using a non-admin account.

 

Trust me it happened to my yesterday and i fixed it by following those steps

Your best bet is Googling it.

 

I've ran through 3 sd cards already which really screwed me over XD wish i just got a psp for the same cost but anyway transcend and pqi died on me but SanDisk is great

 

I have an r4 and it was the lowest version too but it didnt do that so probably is was your r4 itself so better by a new original r4 (i already upgraded mine)

 

Oh yes, your R4 could have been a fake, there's a couple of those being sold on sites. There were pictures on GBATemp.Net somewhere which showed a real and fake R4.

 

i bought it off amazon, it looks like all th epictures but the casing is black. its the upgrade model. the seller said i could send it back to him an dhe would either fix it or send me a new one but i wanna try and fix it on my own first.

did what you told me to do with formatting and all that jazz and it got corrupted again.... getting frustrated

 

i know you said you didn't want to buy a new sd card but maybe you should consider it as you can pick up kingston cards for pocket change off ebay. i just got an extra 2gb card and it cost basicly nothing

 

if you bought the R4 from Amazon, then it's most likely a fake, I would know, I've bought one too by accident. You can tell if it's a fake if:

1. The box it comes in says R4-II upgrade
2. The label on the "R4" also says R4 Upgrade
3. The firmware site is r4dsl.net
4. The microsd slot is spring-loaded
5. If you can run n5 software on it
6. If your ds blows a fuse (god forbid)

The R4-II is actually an n5, which was supposedly a cheap knock-off of the real R4, but it never really caught up well in efficiency.

But the worst is that the R4-II actually overheats quite quickly after a short amount of play time, then it would blow a fuse in your ds, which BRICKS YOUR DS FOR GOOD. In other words, you will NEVER be able to play your ds again.

 

my r4 is spring loaded. the original ones are all like that the non spring loaded ones are a recent change

 

There is no such thing as an "upgrade model".

the r4 for is real, looks just like all the pictures and not what you described. so im good on that front. its all formatted, latest firmware, micro sd is broken cause i tried two different ones, the panasonic and now im on kingston. so i am stumped. i have no idea what could be the problem, probably gonna mail it back to the guy i bought it from. he said he'll fix it or send me a new one.
