R4 III upgrade still not working!!!!

Help - I have downloaded the suggested files, I have extracted them formatted my SD card and pasted the files onto the SD Card and I still have a white screen with a red square saying menu. Any ideas????? :'(

Can anyone help? I have the same problem, but when i've downloaded the correct kernal, there is no menu file included.

Download the firmware from http://linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ and make sure to extract it. https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php?topic=3880.0 (same context).

 

Have done so Anand thanks, discovered v3.09 has the menu files included. I've moved them up to the root of the card but when loading it to the ds I'm still getting the little red icon which says menu?

The files I have in the root are _DS_MENU.DAT _DS_MENU.INI _DS_MSHL.DAT and then the English3.09 folder

I'm at a loss with this!

 

What is inside the English3.09 folder? Are you sure this is the right firmware for your specific kind of R4?

 

There's a _system_ folder and a moonshl folder.

Hmmm now I'm not so sure. The box says R4-III Upgrade. The link I followed is R4-III / R4 Upgrade (r4-dsl.net) Latest: v3.09. I have also tried R4-III SDHC (r4iiisdhc.com) as the box says SDHC on it and thats also the link on the box, but this download has no menu files included.

I might try this one R4-III / R4 Upgrade (r4dsl.net, r4iiinew.com, r4iii.com, iii.phqy.net) Latest: v3.10

Its' driving me mental! ;-)

 

You need to take the _system_ and moonshell folder out of the 'English3.09' folder, and have those in the root, and then you can delete the english folder.

 

Thanks, will give that a go now. However; under the second one I posted it says The 'R4 III SDHC' is another clone. It is different from both the R4-III and the R4 SDHC" so that link is definitely the correct Kernal. I just don't understand why no menu files!

No doubt I'll be back - hopefully just to say thanks!

Nope didn't work. Still the same wee red guy looking for his menu!

 

You must be using the wrong firmware then. Try http://linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/dl.php/R4IIISDHC_v3.07_English.zip

 

Thats the one I originally tried Anand, have just did it again and there is definitely no menu files on that download. I just don't get it.

Since it is a different type of R4, it probably uses a different file structure for it's firmware. Just try it. 'MoonShell, R4, mypicture, r4.dat' on root.
