okay, so i got an r4 chip recently. i figured out how to download the ds games, but when i try to play some of the games(not all of them), it says, "unable to load data. please turn the power off, reinsert the game card, and try again." i know there are tons of threads and posts about how to fix this problem, but i'm extremely new to this so please don't scold/flame/curse me for posting yet another common issue. yes, i've tried reading the other threads talking about how to fix this, but the suggested solutions seem to be different in every thread. i've read about ten or so threads about this particular issue and they all mention words like "emulators" and "flash carts" and "firmware". i feel like this is rocket science and get more confused with every passing second. if someone could kindly give me step-by-step instructions on how to fix this, i would be VERY grateful. thank you in advance~

additional info: i forgot to mention, i wasn't the one to buy the r4 chip. my sister's boyfriend said he didn't want his anymore and just gave it to me. so i don't have any instruction booklet or whatever else that came with the r4 except the usb connector and the micro sd chip.

Firmware and Flash Carts are very revelant keywords. An R4 is a flash cart and firmware is what makes it work. You can't just put a game on the flash cart and have it run.

Did you put the firmware on the data chip? If you don't know what I'm talking about, then follow this link.

It helped me a lot when i got mine, although I had a R4 SDHC not a normal R4.

https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php/topic,1462.0.html Update firmware. Just overwrite previous firmware files with new ones.
