Hey guys, It's my first time posting here and I really need your help so I hope some of you can lend some experience. I've had my DS for two years, and recently something went wrong with my R4 card so I had to get a new one. It's a version 1.17 and it's brand new. The games work perfectly fine on it and when I plug in the SD to my computer, all the folders (system, themes, moonshl etc.) seem to be present and in order. However, when I put it into my R4 card and switch on my DS, some folders are missing! Sometimes the themes folder is missing, right now the moonshl folder is missing and my DS refuses to use any of the themes I've made myself OR downloaded! When the Themes folder does show up, the Bitmap images of the themes themselves are missing. Sometimes when I open the Theme folder, there appears to be no theme files at all although I can see it's using one of the themes I've got. I'm using the exact same file names and I managed to change the theme to my own custom theme on my old R4. I have twelve themes and they are all copies of one theme I've downloaded, except for theme01 which is my own theme. Currently on my home menu I can make out that the DS has kinda scrambled theme07 (since it's now July)... It's kinda fuzzy and static-y looking but the buttons and games work fine. What's going on with my card and what should I do about it? Please help. My current theme is hurting my eyes ): Thanks a bunch in advance!
THANK YOU! Any other programs I could use to format though? I'm using a Mac OS X 10.4.11 and the one you mentioned is not supported by my OS... Damn. So I just reformat it and then put everything back on it yeah? Post Merge: [time]1278353771[/time] SIGH, formatted using Disk Utility on my Mac and still no change. Here's a list of all the files and folders, just to make sure: In Root, there are six: _DS_MENU.DAT _DS_MENU.INI _DS_MSHL.NDS _SYSTEM_ GAMES MOONSHL In _SYSTEM_: CHEAT.DAT resource themes _SYSTEM_ > resource: reset.bin romframe1.bin romframe2.bin unicode.ank unicode.l2u unicode.u2l brightness.bin dldi.bin local.fon In _SYSTEM_ > themes: theme01 - theme12 All the themeXX's contain: bckgrd_1.bmp bckgrd_2.bmp icons.bmp logo.bmp theme.ini In MOONSHL: bookrk0.sav - bookmrk3.sav custom lang0.ini lang1.ini moonshl.ini moonshl.sav plugin resume.sav skin system.ank system.fon system.l2u In skin is just all the bitmap pictures and the startup and shutdown mp3s that I'm pretty sure have nothing to do with this. It also has skin.ini, splash.ani, Thumbs.db, skin.txt. I know this is super long and tedious but please do go through your files if you have the time and tell me if I'm missing anything important, or have something I don't need or could be causing this. Thank you so much!
never heard of this one._DS_MENU.INI and i don't believe this one should have "_DS_" on it.... _DS_MSHL.NDS
It all depends on what card you have. I think the user should get the firmware for his/her card. Sounds like they may have put the firmware from their old card onto the new card (which may be a different type).
See the thing is my old card was completely wiped out for some reason. Downloaded a game and it just wouldn't load when I turned on the DS. I'm using the same memory card though... So you're saying the problem is my SD and not my R4? Should I just backup my stuff and get a new SD? I also tried downloading the kernel version 1.18 but when I put it on my SD, the DS would turn on and stay in the black and white Loading screen for ages so I removed it and put 1.17 back on. Not too concerned about this though since 1.17 is fine... Should I be?
