R4 Alternate? what is the best card now this is not officially suported??

    sorry for long title but i have read on a few threads that the R4 is no longer being supported and in the past few weeks of downloads we have found quite a few that are not working and have had to patch .
    can yu tell me if there is a new card i should be on the look out for please.

    The R4 company has gone out of business so sadly there won't be any more firmware updates. If you're looking for a new cart then there are a number of options.

    You have the CycloDS, this is the one I bought long ago and it's worked perfectly for me so far, with the newest 1.51 firmware I have yet to find any game I cannot play.

    The Edge cart is a clone of CycloDS and it has most of the same features, I generally hear good things about it, even though it's a cheaper version of the CycloDS, sometimes people say it's slightly lower quality materials though, but all my knowledge of this is second-hand.

    Another quality cart (or so I've heard) is the Acekart 2, I haven't really heard much about this cart aside from that it's good, but that's very second-hand as well.

    Look into the Acekard 2i, it's their new version that is compatible with the DSi. It of course still works with the DS/Lite as well.
    If you're not worried about future DSi support the CycloDS Evolution is the best. I have it, works amazing. Also have the EZFlash V+ and it works great and will cost about a fourth of the Cyclo.

    define not officially supported?
    all good carts are officially supported. why would you want a cart thats dead?

    I think you misunderstood. The R4 company has stopped official support of the product since there are so many clones of it. (A good dozen on dealextreme alone) So the author of this thread was looking for suggestions of a card that will continue to have a dedicated team behind it to work on all new releases and support of new rom's.
