One thing I've noticed here, is quoting a post with a quote removes all the quote formatting, causing the user's new quote to be false (and sometimes confusing). Here I made a quote 'pyramid'. http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=39398.msg722996#msg722996 Here a user quotes me, but all the text is inserted under a single quote. http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=39398.msg722999#msg722999 I'm curious if this is something that may be fixed, or just the way it's going to have to be?
I actually edited my post because the entire post became one massive quote, the best I could do was remove the name of the first quote's maker. So something is really messed up, I just went to quote one message, place my response, quote another and repeat...and the original product was one big quoted message. If you'd like I could post another message there just to duplicate the problem.
Re: Quote \\\"Pyramids\\\". Er...I'll show you this, this is an exact quote and my replies inserted beyond the quote tags. Post Merge: [time]1271320178[/time]
You can post it. But you cannot get the quotes in by simply hitting the quote button. This means that if you want to do a quote pyramid you have to do so explicitly. Which also means we can easily give a warning or a ban if it's abused.
Wouldn't it be more effective to just limit quote pyramids to, say, two or three instances? You can retain discussion cohesion while still limiting abuse.
Err...I think you misunderstand me. What I posted above is not what I wanted, the quote tags were set so it end and have it all separated, instead it all became one, which makes it hard for some people like me to find the reply to it (seems noob-ish to reply inside a quote). I don't even like quote pyramids because it takes alot of space, I only ever want to quote the current reply anyway (at least here I don't bring the first quoted part and end up having 20 quoted messages together because of the auto quote thinking I want the whole chat together )
