Is it safe for a hard drive to be mounted in a case upside down, it won't cause any heating problems or misalign the platters/reading heads will it? I've had some wierd circumstances come up where I either need to put it in upside down or have to spend some money, and if it's not an issue then I'm not going to spend the money.

I did a quick Yahoo! search and came up with this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070318084623AA2bQlh

    So I guess it's okay.

Alright, thanks for that. Sorry I didn't think to search for it online, studying for finals has me really scatterbrained this week.

I've tried mounting my HDD sideways and upside-down before, no problems at all. I assume it will work for your case.

The My Book series of external hard drives are mounted sideways.
