Questions about making a new site. Note: I already started it, made some pages, applied stuff and templates) 1. Is it plagiarism if you copy an article from WIKIPEDIA? 2. How about from a different website? (such as News, Microsoft, etc.?) 3. Is it also plagiarism if you just but a title, short description and a link to the actual source? (I seen it on threatpost.com) 4. What free web host do you suggest? I’m using UCOZ.COM and they give you 400 MB to start with! And I’m sure I will stick with it! You can use HTML, CSS, BB and Jscript. 5. My site is about Windows 7 and other stuff, and I’m pretty sure there is a lot of sites that deal with the same stuff. Do you think that the success of this site may help by advertising on my YouTube account and other sites (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) 6. Anyone here has a lot of spare time (like me)? 7. Who here would like to help me on my site or become moderators for forums and articles? I just started like a week ago and I can only work on this is 20-30 minutes a day (Monday to Friday). On the weekends, it will depend on a bunch of things. I am more of a visual guy than a HTML, etc. kind of guy. I’m better off in computers (as in making it faster, suggestions and other stuff) than Internet editing (I know how to use the Internet!) such as RAW HTML. Further more, I need help. Who knows? My site might be used by a lot of people (I’m dreaming but it’s worth a try!) and I will pass on my knowledge (like what I did with my computer skills to other strong PC users) onto other people using UCOZ Web Service and probably other Internet related stuff. Plus, I commented on a lot of Computer-related Forums on Romulation (and that was fun!). So if you can answer any of the questions, please do so. And when you go onto my site: www.windows7pc.ucoz.com , you can apply for moderator or administrator on my site. Actually, you will be a reporter and work your way up.
1) yes 2) yes 3) no 4) I don't suggest a free host at all, they're generally not very good and have a tendency to pull the plug on your site for no good reason 5) the success of your site will be better improved by making it informative, professional and having a real domain. 6) I don't. 7) getting people to sign up to be administrator/mod does not bode well. It is not a good way of choosing staff.
Hosthelpers are the best free host's, but as loony said, free hosts will take off your website if it gets too popular or for no reason at all really.
Thanks for the info, but UCOZ is partically a paid hoster (as in the site would be up 99.95% of the time or something like that). I won;t actually make ANYONE as Admins/Moderators. They start as Reporters for news (which is the point of my site). I want to do something in life like make a site for once! Either awy, if you want to help, apply, staert off as a reporter and work your way up. Soon enough, you're a Moderator. But for Admin, I gotta know you.
