As I know, you'll need one that came with pre-installed 3.95 firmware to know that it'll only have the v2 chip. Having that chip makes it possible to install custom firmware with a Pandora, a Magic Memory, and the Universal Unbricker V6. Now, if this is all fine and dandy, what I'd like to know is if I can update the firmware to the newest one. Would a new firmware make it impossible to install a custom firmware, even if I only have the v2 chip? TL;DR: Can you install custom firmware on a v2 chip Madden 09 PSP, with updated firmware? (I'd like to install Beats and a few Demos from the PS Store, since the Pandora will take a few weeks to get here)
As long as you have a Pandora's Battery and your sure you have a TA-088 v.2 and not v.3 then yes if you wanted you could install the latest Sony Firmware but personally if you have Pandora I recommend instead of the latest Official Firmware go to Custom Firmware 4.01 M33-2.It's a lot better then Official firmware plus you gain more functionality from your unit.Any questions just ask as I consider myself very knowledgeable about the PSP.
^as above, as long as you dont hav e V3 you can downgrade any firmware version with pandora. Also going to 4.01 is a good idea, especially if you intend to purchase from the PS store.
Almo is correct. Pandora & MMS will cfw any psp w/o the dreaded ver3 mobo and make sure to Back-Up your Nand! using an app like nandtool or something in case things get messy ;D
