Question regarding PCI slots.

    I am thinking of buying a GTS450 tp replace my current 9400GT. My PC has a PCI-e x16 slot(version 1.0). Question is, will the GTS450 work in my PC? And what kind of improvement should I expect(comparing GTS450 and 9400GT).

    Better Multi-core rendering and larger textures as for the card working,you should but be wary of your internal space,
    my bro tried to get a better GPU for his pc but the large heatsink wouldnt fit with the rest of his case due to a mix of chassis build and his existing cpu heatsink

    the GPU will have no effect on multicore rendering. If the render engine uses the GPU then the render will be faster, if it does not then there will be no difference. You would be able to play newer games.

    dracky w mentioned internal space in your chassis, but you also need to ensure your PSU is up to the job. Find out how many amps the GTS450 draws under full load and make sure your PSU can supply more than that on the 12V. (if you have a multirail PSU with several 12V rails you can add the rails together, but bear in mind this is no guarantee it will work. if it can supply the required amps on two rails or less combined, it should.)

    and you could just have uploaded a CPUZ validation rather than the txt report

    wont need more that a 650w power supply

    there is no way that thing will power a GTS450. It has a single 12V rail supplying 17A and its a no-name brand.

    you just need a new powersupply, which will cost around $150 at most. Is your computer custom built or prebuilt (i.e dell, HP, etc) if so what manufacturer?
