Question in HG

    I was thinking of a fire to go with...

    and i thought of getting a Growlithe... but the problem is it can't evolve into a strong Arcanine because if I evolve it early it won't have strong moves such as Flare Blitz.

    I'm thinking if Growlithe can survive even if it doesn't evolve into Arcanine.

    Growlithe is still perfectly fine for the main game. Just evolve it when it learns Flare Blitz.

    I agree. The same can be said for Vulpix for SoulSilver users. The 2 Pokemon still go really well in the game, as Fire Pokemon have a really easy run in Johto. Not like Grass Pokemon, where they have to battle Flying, Bug, Ghost, Poison, Steel, Ice and Dragons Gyms in Johto. I say Poison because all the 4th badge uses is a Gengar and a few of his little brothers lol.
