I was looking into trying out softmodding my wii (btw, if anyone has any links to super easy, for-dummy, so clear a five year old could do it type instructions, that would be super appreciated because this stuff seriously makes my brain hurt!) but the majority of the roms I have found are PAL and I'm in the US. Does it matter or can I only play only NTSC? I searched but the only thread I found was related to sega saturn.

    Well...there's no easy guide..

But check this out - http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=35411

For the PAL games, they may work, but due to the difference in the TV signals they may be unplayable... :\

    They may work...

I'm in a pal region, and NSTC games work fine, on my older tv's it was ethier nothing or black and white...

But I was fine playing in black and white :)
And you beat my browser :(

Yes, but some games skip like an old worn VHS tape and are in black and white as well.
Some just need a video patch, but other are unplayable like Pikmin 2...

The newer flat screen TVs should be able to handle the color issue though, so yeah. PAL games should work if you have the correct TV. (I have the old kind. :) ).

Well my current tv is probably about 10 years old but I just bought a new house and plan on buying a new tv when I move in a few weeks. That's good news then. Now if I can just figure out how to do it. I looked at that guide and it just made me feel stupid.

It may work on the new TV, but I have no clue as I have the analog. :p

The guide is confusing, but if you read it ever so carefully, it will be begin to make sense. :)
Just keep reading it! That's how I learned all that junk. :p

I just started to over-write stubs actually yesterday, so I'll post that sometime once I feel I learned enough about it. (And you prolly have no clue what I'm talking about.. XD)

Thanks for the advice. I will. I have tried to watch videos on youtube too because seeing someone do something can be more helpful to me sometimes than just reading it but those kind of confuse me too. I think I am just super paranoid about making a mistake and bricking it.

    You are absolutely right! :D

    Ah!

Just don't install any bad wad files or delete anything under 200.
    That's about it. :)

Don't change the region of your console either. :p

    You're welcome.

It's not as hard as it sounds once you see the programs. :)

hey my tv is like 10 years old and i can play ntsc game fine (i have a pal wii).

all you do is use neo-gamma to launch your games then (if its a ntsc game) thers an option to patch it so itl play it as a pal game. Have had no problems yet. You just have to change the setting each time you play the ntsc game

Yes, but this still doesn't fix most games for an NTSC console with PAL games.

Uloader is much better than NeoGamma in my opinion.

why is it different the other way round?

n ive never used Uloader. tried gecko loader and it failed on me :p

Gecko Loader is for real games, not burned games. :p

It's the difference in the TV signals that the Wii sends out.

Older TVs aren't usually compatible with a PAL signal in the US.
