i heard that turtles need to bask everyday but i have little to almost no sunlight entering my house. I live in an apartment surrounded by other apartments meaning that barely any light enters my house. they don't sell UVA or UVB lamps here in the philippines either but my turtle still looks very healthy
Best be safe than sorry, get a light from ebay. That said, my nan had a turtle, it barly got any light because it would normally hang in the roofed part of the outdoors inclosure, which hardly got any sunlight in where it was positioned...but I wouldn't really know because the times I did see the turtle was when I was a little kid and when no sun was out.
I thought a turtle is a reptile-so they need sunlight etc to heat up.Since you dont have anything like that, you are basically being "cruel" to the turtle. You could release the poor animal so it can live a proper life.......
my mom says that the place we live in (the Philippines) has much more heat than a crappy UVB lamp. I'm not sure if she's right or wrong. I mean, i can just let my turtle walk around the park nearby my apartment an hour a day just to let him bask but that would be a waste of my gaming time.
Im not sure if its heat or sunlight or both they need.I suppose you need the same equipment like if it was a snake.
The Philippines has a very moist and warm environment. Trust me, I'm Filipino. Everything needs sunlight once in a while, it provides Vitamin D and nutrients somehow. Usually, the Philippines can be cloudy. Turtles always need some sort of light, my parents say it helps them grow. If you have a DS or PSP, you can bring him to the park in a fenced or barricaded area so you can play video games and watch him/her. Or at least keep it in it's cage, and let it run around for a few minutes.
