Ive downloaded Psx games off here and converted them to play on the Psp using Simple Popstationgui. My question is how do I modify the Eboot so that I get a Icon of the game(instead of the ps logo) in the menu.

If you're using PSX2PSP, then use classic mode.

    Are you using PSX2PSP 1.4.2?

Then add pictures to the logo and the background and boot screen.

There is a preview button that you can use to view what it will look like on your PSP.

If you're going to add music to it, I'll just let you know that it's not really worth it. :p

No,I tried that psx2psp before and it didnt work,or I couldnt get it to work. There are options in that Simple Popstation to insert a picture,Im wondering where I get the picture so that my son can just click on the game he wants. One game is Goofy,so just a picture of Goofy would do instead of the ps logo......

To find pictures, just use Google. It has image results. Just choose one you want and save it to your computer. Load it in the Icon of your popstation GUI when making the Eboot.

OK Tirith, does that popstation recognise a jpeg picture format.Ive got 2 games running ok but I couldnt get Donald Duck to work.Im running the games without the seplugins pack-do I need that as it didnt work when I tried the 4.01 setting. Are you meant to try the 12 settings until a game works?

    cheers

It support jpg files. And even if it didn't you can load up the pictures in an editor like MSPaint and save the image as BMP or PNG. As far as popsloader and running eboots, yes, you just need to try ones til it works, and it will remember which ever one you last loaded the game with.

You can look at the compatibility list for help on which games run best on which pops versions. If the game isn't listed though, you'll have to guess and check.

Ah ok,Im getting there. So is the seplugins folder pack I loaded the actual pops-loader(the menu with 12 settings going up to 4.01).
Goofys Fun House and Tom and Jerry play ok after I deleted the seplugins folder.I think the 2 x games played ok before I installed the seplugins,strange....

Yes, the thing in the seplugins folder was popsloader.

Instead of deleting it, you could have held the L button while you started the game to bring up the popsloader menu and choose the "use pops from Flash" option (or what ever it says exactly). This uses the version of pops from your current firmware to play the game rather than the pops from the previous versions.

Some games work just fine on 5.00 pops (or 5.5, but I think they are likely the same pops version). By deleting popsloader, you just forced all your psx eboots to use the flash version of pops.

Right,Ill try that and Ive managed to put a pic of Donald Duck for the icon instead of the ps logo on the eboot.

Thanks for your help and to Ace also.

LITM-Here are some pre made pics to use when you re-convert the eboot files.

    Perfect size, perfect format.

Ive tinkered around with the pics and I see the menu icon is like a sixth size of the picture I took-all I see is the top left hand chunk of the picture.I would also like to insert a full screen size picture that is displayed when I scroll onto the little icon of the respective game.Where do I put the picture when Im customizing the e-boot

On PSX2PSP 1.4.2, you choose the "Background Image"

If you aren't using PSX2PSP, I suggest you do. The advanced GUI loads a preview of what you will see on your PSP as you add the images. Icon, Background, Background Music. You can customize it quite a bit.

I use the Simple Popstation and it has them options you mention.I now know exactly what you mean Tirith.I can insert the little game icon after I resize it to 144x80,but since that website is closed that Hypnos mentioned,I wont bother with the background image underlay. The image has to be converted through Gimp etc cos its a moving file type thing.

Anyway, one final bit of help:- I cant get Donald Duck to play.I seen on the psx compatibility site you gave it says to rename the gameID and use like 3.01 setting.I remember you saying your brother had trouble because the game folders name was too long, but why must the gameID number and type be changed.

Edit:- The folder name was too long as I got the corrupted data icon, but after shortening it,the game icon appeared.Due to renaming the fileID's type and number, the game now plays.

Thanks for all your and Hypnos help...
