This could be in the wrong place as it may or may not be directly related to roms. I recently bought a multitap for the sole purpose of playing Bomberman Party Edition with friends. Lo and behold, I ran into an annoying problem. Bomberman does not like my multitap. I know that it's not the multitap, because I've tested it with both Crash Bash and Bomberman World. And quite frankly, I hate Bomberman World (If I hear one more 'Bomb-up', I think I'm going to go insane.) If I plug the multitap into port 1, no controllers are recognised. If I put it into port 2, with a controller in port 1, it recognises the the controller in port 1 and controller A. If I fiddle around, it will briefly realise that yes, there is a controller connected in the multitap, before denying it's existence once more. Is there anyone else who suffers from this annoying incompatibility? Better yet, is there a way to make them get along or am I doomed to laying two bombs down at once whilst running?
Is it an official multi tap or a cheap knock off? The later may be why...also age...and the fact is, while I don't have one, they can only work in slot 2. Try this-have one controller in slot one, multitap in 2 with some controllers. More than 1 to see what's going on.
Unfortunately, it's not an official Sony-brand multitap. They can work in Slot 1 (at least this one does). I use it in Crash Bash and it recognises all four controllers perfectly. It also works in Bomberman World, but Bomberman Party Edition just doesn't seem to want it. Using your suggestion, Bomberman treats the multitap like an extension to the controller. It doesn't recognise the other two plugged into the multitap, only the first one. If I push down very slightly on the connector, it does recognise the controllers, so I thought about taping it but the problem is it's very hard to get the sweetspot. I'm just really annoyed at the fact everything else doesn't mind it except Bomberman Party Edition.
-Brand may be the reason why-unofficial gear has compatibility issues -Some times games are just annoyng -I suggest ethier an official one, or use 2 player games... And this is why I bought an n64 years ago-multi-taps-not needed XD
Well, the good news is that upon further testing only Bomberman Party Edition seems to be affected. The bad news is that was the whole reason I bought the multitap. Still, I can settle for Crash Bash and any other 4-player games I get my grubby hands on. Thanks for your help!
