Hey everyone. I'd like you to share with me your opinion about Play Station Portable, because I'm not sure - buy it or not? I have Nintendo DS already but I've already played all good games, I think... I would like to have PS3 or Xbox but my parents don't want me to, so I'm thinking about PSP - is it kind of smaller PS3? I mean... Do you think it's THAT different to play PSP than to use NDS and is gaming like this ps3 one, are there many good games? I'd like to play something with good graphic, cause I'm bored with NDS's average one, and games like hack'n'slashes or action, or some good rpgs with interesting plot... And is there Littlebigplanet for PSP? Are there some games similar do Heavy Rain, or will there be? Do you enjoy using PSP? Oh, I just wanna know your opinion on buying psp - why should I/shouldn't I do this? PS I'm really sorry for my English but hope you'll understand what I wrote ;<
Err. It's really all up to you. PSP is great IMO if you're looking for a change from the NDS. It's got some great games coming out like Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and it has some great games already out. It's not like the PS3 or 360 because they are completely different but the PSP is different in it's own way. There is LittleBigPlanet for the PSP and I don't know about a game like Heavy Rain since I haven't played that game. About hacking terms, there are four different types of PSP's. 1000 (Each motherboard is fully hackable), 2000 (It's kinda a 50/50 chance if it's hackable or semi-hackable but if you're under 5.03 firmware, it doesn't matter anyway), 3000 (All motherboards are semi-hackable, that means if you're under 5.03 firmware you can have temp CFW (custom firmware) until you fully turn off your PSP, then you have to re-hack all over again. Any semi-hackable motherboards over 5.03 are not hackable in any way, yet) and there is N1000 (PSP Go) which is not hackable and you'll be stupid to get this if you don't have Wi-Fi or like your bargains. Anyway, it's all up to you.
DS is better in terms of quality RPG,adventure. Also Ds allows RTS to be played. PSP has a better graphical rendering capabilities but DS games are more charming and has superior art design(mainly due to game types).I think PSP is over hyped. One thing though, you like hack and slash? God of War:Chain of Olympus is going to be awesome for you God of War:Ghost of Sparta is going to come out as well.
PSP is ok i sold mine because all the games arent that great but if you cant buy a larger console but want to play some big name games it wont be the best but youll get the basics. I may want to rebuy it though because a couple games are coming out like KH RBS and some others. All of the above also apply
I hate to actually admit this but the PSP isn't all its cracked up to be, even hacked. I own both a PSP and an NDS and 9 out of 10 I play my NDS more so than the PSP, granted my PSP is hacked and I have a flashcard for my NDS so I am open to damn near every game out there for both systems, but when it all boils down it seems I find better games to play on the NDS some of the games on the PSP get my attention then it wears of quickly (except for God of War Chain of Olympus). But anyway I've pretty much just rehashed what Prowler and allkratos have stated, and I am in agreement with Prowler's statement that in the long run it's all up to you.
The PSP excels in a couple things that the DS does not. Which is having a console experience as a portable device and it's graphics. That being said, the only time I really play it is on the road (for a five hour drive or so), if I wanted a console experience, I'd play a console on a bigger TV screen to play such games. Having emulators is also a huge plus.
Yeah of course graphics can be rendered better on PSP-way better if you will. However,i do think DS is more versatile the stylus allows for games with flexible and innovative gameplay.
But the PSP is more versatile than the NDS because of it's graphics and up to 1.8GB on a UMD. Yeah, the NDS has a touch screen but that doesn't mean anything. TBH, I get pissed when games require you to use both the touch screen and buttons. Anyway, about games, here are my suggestions if what OP is looking for. Phantasy Star Portable - Don't let the beginning put you off (It's easy and NPC's hog all your action) when you're about three hours in that's where you can be like, fuck yeah. Fat Princess Fistful of Cake - The name stands for how cool it is. Hexyz Force - A new RPG that's just come out. It's got a FFX feel to it and it's one of the best RPG's out on the PSP (IMO) since there isn't that many. Pangya Fantasy Golf - Don't let it's causal gameplay fool you, it's easily one of the best golf games around. God Eater - Even though it's only in Japanese right now, it's kind of like Monster Hunter but more fun ;3 Oh and then you have the whole library of SNES, GBA, NES, etc. games to play and not to mention PS1 games too (Games that require both analog sticks, not so good) plus some homebrew games (not that many but some are good)
Game which makes me want buy PSP alone, is Disgaea 2 Dark Hero Days. There are only few great games on DS, seriously, there is far too much childish crap out there...
Nintendo is gearing towards Family friendly gaming. You can't blame them for "childish crap" Also, FPS are much easier on the DS then the PSP, at least from my experience
And alot of the kiddy games aren't made by nintendo... Blame the image nintendo given themselves, however the psp scene is dying due to "piracy" as sony claims... There are some great psp games, but like ds games they get boring...it's just a hand held anyway :
I have both a PSP and NDS(although god knows where's my DS now...) and i'll give you an advice based on experience: Cost: PSP requires Emulation firmware that can be downloaded and costumized, and reversing those changes are relatively easy. conversely, DS Cards such as R4 or what-have-you are Hardwares, meaning if you can't play a ROM with your current card you need to pay more. Gaming experience: PSP has better graphics, meaning better looking games and semi-realistic pictures, unlike those found in DS. 3d polygonal stuff in DS are just an eyesore in literal terms. however, the DS is WAY more interactive, with installed mike and touch screen. Value for Money: the PSP plays game, videos, Music, and can store your music. there are also a lot of add-ons like camera and TV antenna. the DS, although versatile, can only play games, music, and pictograph (which i never tried) conclusion: if you are a competitive sort, go for the PSP but if you are just bored, you'll find the DS your best friend.
I've had experience with PSP since it's launch, and I must say it's a great little machine. It's been out long enough that there's plenty of great games available for it, games such as MGS Portable Ops (MGS Peace Walker comes out very soon too), Resistance, GTA, Daxter, Jak The Lost Frontier, Star Wars Battlefronts, and a bunch of others. The Online features are very good, you can go to a PSN store just like you would on PS3, and download Demos, on demand games, new themes, and previews, the online play also works really good, with fun games like Medal of Honor Heroes, which has 32 Player Frag-Fests. Other online features include a browser, and Skype (Unfortunately they don't appear to sell cameras for the thing ANYWHERE, so you'll have to order one), and RSS Feed, and internet radio. But I've got a MGS Peace Walker PSP bundle pre-ordered, which I am waiting patiently for. My old PSP was getting a bit worn down you see.
Psp is good, graphics, the memory,so if I will have to choose among psp,ps3, and Xbox, i will choose psp About NDS: others say that a nintendo ds is only for kids.... but i think, NO, because there are many games on NDS that you will surely like, for example, Final Fantasy 4 I'm sure kids will not like it, but us, the real gamers, will surely like it...
I, real gamer, surely hate FF 4. I have not said DS is only for kids, but it is mostly. I hope that 3DS, with its better graphics, will have some more serious games which are actually worth attention...
I love FF4!!!! tell me 3 important reasons why you hate FF4... and I will throw my game on the trash can....
