A return to my favorite town ,Silent Hill ! Silent Hill is one of the most known Survival-Horror game out there. In fact ,maybe its the most known. Even now ,Silent Hill 2 is capable to scare lots of people. LOTS! But ,like so many other series ,it started to fall. If you played ,SH4 and SH:Homecoming were not...enough? I mean ,they were not awful ,they were decent games but... After all ,they were Silent Hill. Their names make us want more. Now ,Konami decided to bring the series to its roots for Sony owners: PsP and Ps2... ---Atmosphere & Graphic --- I have the PSP one ,and I will talk about it. There are no major differences though... First of all ,it is portable. What I mean is ,when you play this game on bus ,you will understand nothing. When I first bought this game ,I thought "Will this be a true SH experience?"... Well ,if you find a dark ,quite room this game will be a blast of horror. But ,as I said before ,If you play it at day or even moving ,this game will be nothing than an action game... Graphics are quite perfect for PSP. I also played God of War ,I know what perfect is ,but this game really has some moments that you will not believe your eyes. For example ,In one scene you will encounter some blood trails. When you fallow them ,there will be a cutscene waiting for you ,about a butcher and a nurse... Trust me ,you will think you are using a Ps2. But generally ,graphics are good. Not GoW good but good. ---Gameplay--- Like every other SH games ,your main objective is not to kill or run. You walk slowly ,and as a trucker ,combat is not easy, when you enter a combat I mean. One mistake can cost your life...And as you know ,its portable and some buttons and moves are deleted. You will feel this at combat. When a fire-arm equipped ,you just press and hold one button ,press another... This way ,you can finish all the game. There is no dodge or etc... As I said before ,it's a SH game and it's portable. You won't need so many buttons ,and there is not. BUT ,every button does something. This sometimes can confuse you ,but its easy to understand and use. There is also a map system. It is very useful. Travis adds notes and symbols to the map. This way ,you can easily choose and go where you want. But map works for only 5 places. The other minor places have most probably 2 rooms ,so you wont need a map. Screen is like a old TV. You will understand what I meant while you play. In fact when you first open the game. This doesn't affect your game generally. But in a corner ,you will sometimes want a straight view. But generally ,it looks cool and diffrent. Camera views are generally good in this game. Camera moves itself and usually shows player the creepy things ,collectables etc... But sometimes ,in large areas ,camera can not know what to show and shows you nothing. Theese times ,you will possibly get killed by a carrion. But generally ,the gameplay is good and does not effect your game most of the time. ---Voice Acting and Sounds--- This part is the what game lacks at. As you know ,general Survival-Horror game sound technique is...making it quite! You raise the sound of footsteps ,play or sound nothing and there ya go ,a perfect S-H game. But our precious Konami tried to do something else... In a tiny device ,you cant fit soo much sounds. 1 ,or maybe 2 sounds for one monster... Well ,how'bout 1? Every monster groans everytime in same voice. Of course ,a nurse and a carrion has different noises but they are mainly same... Voice Acting is kinda good. If you played SH games,there is no traffic or lines at that town. You probably will have a cool person to talk ,3-4 nutshells to fight. But voice acting is good. A trucker's and a nurse's voices are easily different from each other. The only bad part is ,there are some times that you will hear a Crazy Woman's voice. That was bad. Sounds like a cat. Bad. But rest is good. Musics are perfect. Silent Hill's most loved part is I think the soundtrack. It is really good. Knows where to start and end. Rises and decreases the tension... Awesome! ---Plot ,Places ,Length and Characters--- I think you all know what "Origins" means. Yes ,this game takes place BEFORE the first game. The only think you will notice is Lisa. The other parts are not "exactly" saying "I'm before the main series". If you delete Lisa ,and name it SH: Desperate Town ,no one will notice is it before or after... But still ,plot is good. I will give a short explanation. Travis ,who is a trucker ,had a terrible childhood. He murdered his parents and he became a very ,very depressed person. He even started to think to commit a suicide ,but strangely he couldn't.Eventually he leaves everything behind and becomes a trucker. One day ,on a regular road,he sees a 7 ,maybe 8, year old girl. He stops his truck ,gets out and walks towards to the girl. He has no idea where is he going or why. He just goes... Can you guess where is he heading? You should. If it was Las Vegas ,we weren't talking about this right now ^^ Anyways ,Silent Hill designed well. It has only one major mistake: Its too empty. Tooo empty. I mean ,you will see 10-20 cars on the road IN THE GAME! Human number is 5 ,3 of them are jackasses... You feel so lonely ,not desperate. There are 4 main places in SH:O . An Hospital ,an Asylum , a Theatre and a Motel. Each of them are designed soo well but... 4? Come on?! Game ends in 10 hours ,if you do everything. You can even finish it in 2 hours. This is the major drawback for the game. I still buy UMD ,but if you have a modded PSP ,download this game ASAP! But If you are like me ,buy the Konami Double Pack. There is not a decent reason to play this game 2nd time also... But ,you can still play it again with the costumes ,some minor changes and so... My main point is ,if you gonna buy this game UMD ,you should buy another game with it. ---The Lasting Appeal--- This part is also important. First of all ,weapons. There are ,if I am not mistaken, 5 weapons in this game. Each of them are very VERY powerful. This is not good. You can find bullets so easily than any other SH games. If you run from some monsters ,you can finish the game with 500+ bullets total. Also there is no radio. I loved the radio. *sigh* We still have the flashlight. Oh and ,there is no ON/OFF animation for it but that's not really important. Also ,FL is unnecessary so many times. It gives the creeps your exact location ,and the environment is kinda light. You can see where you are going. There are 3 endings for this game. One is normal happy ending ,the others needs you to finish the game twice. Also ,we have the UFO ending. It was in every game but 4th. That was bad anyways. Bad ending is really bad. Not gonna give hints ,but bad. Unlockables are decent. Some weapons (SpaceMan Gun and a Giant Blade) can be appear as unlockables. Also we have costumes. They are funny . But ,as I said ,they probably wont make you play the game another time. Item number is rich. Throwables ,pistols ,close ranges ,health items ,bullets ,collectables... You will find lots of items. It makes the game easier but its kinda cool. You can have a Katana ,Portable TV or a screwdriver. Monsters are few but definitely cool. Hmm... 7 normal ,4 boss... That's good ,right? I think its better than good. Some monsters are really creepy. But ,you will get used to it. TOTAL: 8 / 10 Graphics 7 / 10 GamePlay 8 / 10 Sounds ,Music ,Voice Acting 6.5 / 10 Plot,Places ,Characters ,Length 8 / 10 Lastin Appeal ---- 37.5/50 --- Final words: Definitely better than Dementium. If you love this genre ,SH or PSP ,you should give it a try. But UMD users should buy it if they really love the genre. asdzxc789123

This review is very hard to read. I found myself having to read over many sentences several times in an attempt to draw some meaning from them. Also, this does read very much like a fanboy review with little objectivity but at least you were honest and did not try to disguise that. On a more postive note you have put a good amount of detail in and have obviously taken time to try and justify your scoreing.
Try to include the scores at the end. In other words, put Gameplay score, story score etc right at the end instead of the particular sections. Other than that it is on the brink of being accepted.
