I always play roms on my DS! I have a PSP, but really i never use it. I would use it alot more if it did roms, so how can i make it play them? I heard i have to "downgrade the firmware", but i don't have a clue how!

First we need to know what type of PSP you have and what official firmware it has.
PSP Models include 1000, 2000, 3000, and the Go.

The model number can be found on the serial number on the bottom or back side of the PSP It will say something like "PSP 1001" and a bunch of numbers.
The firmware can be found in the system settings menu on the PSP.

My PSP is the original one, and the firmware is v.5.03

Oh yeah andon the back at the end of that long code it says: PSP1003

That's good. The PSP 1000 is completely hackable using the Pandora Battery. So it doesn't matter what firmware you are on.
But since you are on 5.03, it's even better since you can use the ChickHEN exploits and don't need the Battery (but the battery is easier).

Take a look at this tutorial.

I can help somewhat as well, just read the entire guide and understand it step by step.

If you get the specific programs mentioned then there is preety much no risk of hurting your psp.

And since he has a PSP 1000 model, bricks are easily recovered using the Pandora Battery method. So there is almost 0% chance of him permanently damaging anything.

    They are fairly cheap.

I bought mine there, but it takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive. But once you buy one, you don't need another. I have done three PSPs with it. It's currently sitting ontop of my Desk incase I ever need it again.

I heard that you only need to use it once, so shouldn't loads of people be giving them away for free?

You only need them once, but they still have value after a single use (they still do the job again if needed, and will fix any brick issues).
So while yes, someone could give them away for free, you probably won't find any willing to since they can get 5 bucks for them on Ebay.

When I buy a new car, I might not need my old one, but I won't be just handing it for free to a person ;)

I'm pretty sure Dealextreme ships to Europe. And they are cheaper than many places.

    Thanks Tirith!
So after i use the battery, do i just put PSP roms on the Memory Stick and play them?

The Pandora battery has to be used with what is called a "Magic Memory Stick". There are programs out there that create the memory sticks for you.
Once you have the PSP downgraded to Custom Firmware, you will be able to take PSP Isos (disc copies) and put them in the ISO folder on your memory stick and play them.

I personally use this program to downgrade my PSPs
    http://pspslimhacks.com/psp-grader-v008/

It will take you directly to 5.00M33 CFW, from there you can upgrade to 5.50GEN if you wish (newest games require it, and will not run on 5.00M33)

DealExtreme rocks! They are really cheap prices on everything, and they deliver worldwide for free! Plus, the
euro -> USD exchange rate is very good (for me) right now. Thanks tirith!

The only thing they suck at is speed :) (2-3 weeks, everything ships out of Hong Kong).

Tirith,it maybe sucks on the "free postage" method, but the customer can pay extra for a quicker delivery. Also, there is a new style battery that doubles up as a normal battery-which Ive got.

Also,I sent MDS my tool battery-but hes not getting my car LOL.

Not that i need it :)

Here is something...during my experiments I found an app to modify this.

Yup, to modify what is in that link and make it upgrade to 5.50GEN D STRAIGHT AWAY!

...problem is I have to locate it again...or maybe I should upload my data copy :)

If you get the battery pm me, and I'll have it uploaded.

But you still have the cheaper option of my tutorial.
