ok so i put my popsloader into the seplugins folder in the root of my mem stick and activated the plugin through recovery menu. others say that i need psar.dumper or something to switch the firmware but all i'm going to bee using is 5.00 m33-6 version. is psar.dumper really nesscesary? one last thing, i'm about to play FF VII which is multidisc. can popsloader play it directly or does it need a converter and if so, which converter will you recommend?
I believe the Dumper is the program which lets you extract the POPS files from the Official Firmware. Instead of doing that I just downloaded a set of POPS files already extracted. If you do that, then you don't have to dump the firmware files to get them. popsloader just lets you play PSX games with versions of POPS from other firmware levels, rather than just the one you currently have. You still need to convert the files into Eboots using a popstation GUI. I personally recommend PSX2PSP http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40946
oh totally forgot. in which file directory do i put it in? Post Merge: [time]1254869505[/time] can i use another converter for it called icetea v1.3? Post Merge: [time]1254869743[/time] oh just noticed the psx is a binary. are there any converters that support bin?
ok but converter needs a base.pbp and i don't want to buy or download hotshot2. any other good multidisc converters?
Just download the base.pbp file. It's just like the BIOS for an emulator, copyrighted, but if you use Google, you can find it and download it. You can likely even find a link here in these forums if you use the search button.
i just used icetea and converted all the discs separately. put it to psp and it was recognized but when it loaded popsloader came up then gave me a black screen. a useless 2 hours waste of time
You may need to try a different version of pops, Check out the PSX on PSP compatibility list http://www.gamerspress.com/index.php?title=PSX_on_PSP_Compatibility_List It has a good list of what versions you should use on what games. Also, seriously, just google base.pbp and you'll find the file. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=base.pbp&aq=f&aqi=g10&oq=&fp=2cca7b2e99206b9c
