Well, for a complete hack, you should look for the PSP 1000 or 2000 models.
Any 1000 model will do, but for a 2000 model, I would suggest getting either of these since I know for a fact that they are fully flashable with CFW (Custom Firmware).

You will also need a Pandora Battery which you can get here for pretty cheap - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12472

If you do get a 3000, make sure the firmware is below 5.50.
I would personally not get a 3000 as it's a pain to load up ChickHEN all the time. ::)

You will also be need PSP Grader v008 for flashing a PSP 1000/2000.

Just be careful with some 2000's, they're like the 3000, being "unflashable" as of now.

    Anything else?

Yeah, but that's what the Pandora battery is for. :p

I've bricked a few, but I just reflashed them.
    It's really easy. (1000s and early 2000s).

I got a 1k about 4 years ago but the 2k's were barely coming out, my 1k has long since broke but I'm not sure which motherboards are the ones in the 2k's that are unflashable. Nobody seems to even sell psp 2k's anymore, all I seem to find is 3k's and go's, and even ebay has given me no luck..

I'd hate to say it but my first experience with a PSP was a cousin who owned a hacked version and he had every SNES, NES Genesis game on it
which alone made me want to own one. Except I didn't know they had to be hacked first.

I love PSP now so much, now if only the battery had a little bit more life on it...

Get a 2200 mAh battery. It should extend the battery life on the 1000 model quite a bit.

Would you still be able to make a pandora battery with a 2200 mAh battery?

Why would you want to when you have the original 1200/1800 mAh battery to modify with?

The 2200 mAh battery should be your main battery, and thus, should be left unmolested.

A hacked battery is only good JUST for hacking psp's, not for gameplay...

That said I can use mine for playing games, but not sure if it's ...safe to really do so, so I stick with my normal battery.

[me=hYpNoS]will attempt to buy this battery[/me]

Don't worry about bricking. You'll have to be completely retarded to brick a PSP.

Wow, you don't have to buy a battery to hack it. I hacked my psp 2000 by cutting a thing in the battery it comes with... I can't find the video, but it's on youtube somewhere. There's 2 parts to the video and they hack the psp 2000 darth vader edition. it was easy to follow and I found it like a year or 2 ago

    Not exactly.
If the installer freezes on you, then you're screwed.
Happened to me a few times and I can tell you I'm not retarded like you fucking say.
