i have a PSP 1000 trying to hack the firmware. I've tried using chikHEn and it does want to work, all the youtube video I watch do the same thing I'm doing. I've been trying for the last week. Would the fact that my PSP is a PSP-1000 (from japan) and not a PSP-1001 (from US) stop this hack from working?? the current firmware is 5.0.3. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advanced.

OK,but most of the guys on here have bought a Tool battery to save all the mucking about http://www.lightake.com/detail.do/sku._3.6V_1800mAH__Lithium_Battery_Pack_for_PSP1000_2000-22495 And this is handy http://www.lightake.com/detail.do/sku.Dual_Micro_SD_TF_to_MS_Card_Adapter_White_%2816GB_Max%29_-31736
There is always the Pandora method, but you'll need a Jigkick battery which costs money. The best option right now is the ChickHEN route you are taking. But I advise getting a Jigkick battery if you have 6$ or so sometime. - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12472
not needed, you can make a pandora battery out of a normal one. but your psp needs to be able to run homebrews
If you don't make a Jigkick battery and it bricks before you can make one, then you'll need one anyways. And you'll most likely need two batteries if you want a special one for just a Jigkick. You need CFW to make a Jigkick anyways, not just homebrew. A 1000 can make a Jigkick, but later hardware can't and some newer batteries can't be modded at all.
i guess with the bricking, there is chance of bricking even with ofw. the jigkick battery can always become a regular battery. and there are homebrew programs that make jigkick batteries, so it doesnt matter if you dont have cfw. and im guessing his battery can be modded since it is 1000, its the first psps that came out
Those can, but later batteries can't be opened up and modded. I was speaking of when you open the battery and mod it yourself. But the software mods work on most batteries seeing as it rewrites the battery's EEPROM.
