If I go and buy a PSP brand new in a gamestore, what will I need to do to be able to play emulators, downloaded games etc?
And if I fuck around with it, will I still be able to play games that I've bought?

Yes of course you will be able to play games if you mod your PSP. To play emulators and downloaded games and homebrew etc. you have to mod your PSP depending on if it's Slim or not and it's firmware version.

    thanks for the reply.

with mod do you mean open it up and install microchips and stuff?
or is it easier like with the DS and R4 for example?

Well if you look online, there's some great tutorials on how to mod them. It's harder than the DS since the DS isn't being modded, you only have to buy a cart.

Not really. The PSP is only slightly harder to mod as you need to make (or buy) a Pandora's Battery and find the Total Newbie Pandora Installer thing. After that, bam your PSP is on CFW. No need to open it or anything.
