I've downloaded a PSP .cso file which is a game format used on umd's for those who don't know, now i'm not quite sure what I do with it from here, do I need to convert it to eboot ?
right you were, it just needed to go into the ISO folder in the root of the memory stick. thanks looney. can we leave this open? I could use it as a way to help others as I learn more about things like this.
just a little reminder that not all PSP games like to have anything altered, (that includes compression, ripping out the UPDATE folder, etc.) some games you'll just have to deal with the original copy. To test if it does or not, always have either an unaltered ISO or .cso file (without anything ripped) on file. Test it with the .cso, if it works, then keep the .cso, if it doesn't then you have a working ISO. Next, take the .cso and rip out the UPDATE folder. test it again. Works? good. No? then use whatever last worked. Also, some games don't like running compressed, because the PSP has to uncompress it before it uses the file, so there might be some major lag in .cso games. For example, both GTAs don't run well compressed, neither does Test Drive, but I think for Test Drive, it compresses too much from a 1100 MB image to a 560 MB one. I know for Test Drive, it randomly doesn't load the road, and you fall in the abyss. Always test these thoroughly before getting rid of the original. usually, if you get it from a reliable uploader, whatever format they have is what is best for that game. If you don't know how to compress your own images, it's a program called UMDgen.
