So what would you like to see with the second generation PSP?
It is likely there will be one as the current PSP is rather suckish...

Well personally I would like to see:
    -Another anologue stick
    -R2 and L2 shoulder buttons
    -Longer battery life
-Bigger and tougher than the PSP slim
-Better screen and quality (So perhaps we can game outside *Shakes fist at sky)
    -Differant disk format
-Better memory type, perhaps in-built hard-drive?
-No need to mess with updates and firmwares to play new games
-Perhaps an Operating System like Vista
-Better internet so we can watch videos
    -E.T.C

Touch screen function, just so it can compete with the DS &/or DSI. But no to dual screens, that's the one thing I didn't like with the DS. A camera perhaps? & Oh, how about TV via PSP?

TV via PSP would be great.
L2 and R2 shoulder buttons definitely, Pro Evolution/Winning Eleven is great on psp but it would be so much better with the extra shoulder buttons.

if they put a touch screen into the PSP I swear ill kill someone. And putting hard drives into portable gaming that is likely to get bashed around is a stupid idea, I mean just look what happened with the first ipods.

The only thing I would like to see is a second analogue stick. And perhaps L2 and R2 for those PSX classics.

    I'm thinking about the PS2 classics ^_^
And wouldn't they need a hard drive so they could play better games?...
A better processor would be better

Have a large HD, or having a HD at all has absolutely no effect on whether you can play a game or not. If they put a HD in them theres no way id purchase one. HDs can get scratched just like CDs can, and over time get to a stage where they just fail to work. This is what happened with the first ipods, they had HDs and apple told people they could go jogging or running with thier ipod. Running+IpodHD=broken.

That would be great! All the graphic power of sony + all the fun of Nintendo! It'd be like having Mario Galaxy on my hand held DSP

Backwards compatibility with PSP1 games. lol
And PS1 games too. With a tool which you can put in your pc with USB and insert PS1 CD's in it, so you can store them on your memory stick.

well even though i dont have a psp, (and might get one if a newer version comes out) i'd say L2/R2 buttons like the PS3, they are so much easier to press.. Better than the PS2 controllers for sure

I totally agree with Almo. First of all, memory cards are sufficient and they keep getting larger in capacity, so the idea of a PSP2 with a harddrive is pointless. Second, no, no to touchscreens. Touchscreens is what makes the DS great, but that doesn't mean other handheld consoles like the PSP should do the same.

    Third:
Bad ideas. In fact, TERRIBLE. Those two features will make the PSP even bulkier. Who the hell will want to buy something that's larger and less compact compared to the previous?

You can adjust the contrast and see the screen outside just fine. Which brings me to your other "suggestion"...

Get this battery. That thing has almost DOUBLE the battery life compared to the original slim (which is rated at 1200 mA hours).

Oh dear god, WHY? The PSP is NOT a PC! It's a gaming/media device!

Sigh... pointless suggestion. As long as Sony makes new features for the PSP, they will HAVE to keep updating the firmware. And speaking of firmwares, screw Sony's official firmware. Use Dark-Alex's M33 custom firmware as that thing can allow you to run games at faster processor speeds than by default.

I have a PSP Slim myself, and I don't find anything wrong with it at all. With a 2200 mA hour battery, 8 GB Memory Stick, and the custom firmware 5.00-M33-4, my PSP kicks ass. What exactly are you complaining about the PSP, CJDogger? I'm certain whatever problems/complaints you have already has a solution.

Lol owned! I agree with hyper on everything except the extra shoulder buttons, if they made them compact and they were only just below the current L and R buttons, and only stick out a little bit at the top ( so if you lay the psp flat it sort of sits at an angle) i think that could work, not to mention it could improve the ergonomics a little, it would feel a bit like the dualshock2.

Think he was talking about Plasma etc. screens, so no reflection.

Yup, that's what I meant, I can't exactly play outside with my PSP in the summer...
But sir, I could own you any day...

Well, they could try putting undergrips for the second pair of shoulder buttons, but that still requires increasing the thickness of the PSP. And what makes it even more of a bitch is that those buttons have to be thick enough for an average user to make good contact with them.

well if they add those feature into PSP, it will no longer serve it purpose as Protable system since it will be too bulky to carry around.

i also disagree with touch screen, take a look at DS, it got a touch screen and it totally useless. d-pad and analog stick is the way to go.

right now i been downloading PS3 demo from PSN and the size is average 1GB-700MB, they should remove UMD on PSP2 and make it totally digital (downloaded from PSN via PC or PS3)..... if there is a small enough hard disk.

they also need a better sound system and a HD screen on PSP2 to make it totally differ from PSP.

i dont think music player, video player and web is needed, i hardly use them in PSP so i dont think i'll use them in PSP2

Some people still use them, so it wouldn't hurt them at all just to leave those players in.
