onlive isn't going against the wii, it's going against the 360/ps3. of course that can change with a new remote and such that competes with the wii.

there is a problem with onlive that you probably may or may not see when compared with the three current console companies. that problem is what do developers build the games on? is the game according to specs of a virtual console concept or base on a pc spec? i believe it's going to be based on the specs of a pc. if it is according to the specs of a pc, then yes it is way and way superior then the 360/ps3 because a pc is able to create far superior products then the two. so basically it's pc gaming being sold to people using a boxtop that streams the output. this is the future that 360/ps3 and what many digital distribution optimists were thinking about and here it is. let's see if you people favor this route.

I have signed up for the beta, I really hope I can get in. It looks too good to be true, and that usually is how it goes. But, one thing to take into account, what will this do to many of the jobs out there of retailers? Well, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. As much as they want it to be, I don't see how you could play a game in that resolution without a video card/ram that supports it. But, if I get in the beta I guess I'll figure out if it's really what they say it is.

Found out about the onlive a few days ago.

No worrys, won't be able to take off very well with todays tech (of course by the end of the year it might be a bit more plausible, but for now it looks like its gonna flop)

Anyway I wont be bothering, my "broadband" (BULLSHIT!) connection hovers between 20 and 50kb/s anyway

Google it. It's a new 'console' that the Quicktime creator is trying to introduce. It's got a lot of high hopes, but it probably won't deliver. For one, they ask for far too high a connection to even be able to use it. Basically, you must have cable or high-end dsl, or the equivalent to even use it. I just recently got 'high-end' dsl, and I can't imagine it working too well. But, time will tell

You can rent them, it's PC supported (meaning you can play PC games) and the PC's are able to max out the game. It's a cool concept if it works. If it also did support 360/PS3 games, then you can play their exclusives, on one console.

There's A LOT of potential problems though, there's the PC's on the server end crashing, connection problems, lag problems and multiplayer support will probably not exist because your connection is already being in full use because you're downloading the game.

those aren't the real problems. the real problem is ownership. are buyers limited to only using the purchase on the service and player only or are they permitted to do freely what they please with it.

look at music for instance. if you buy a music download, you are able to transfer those files from your portable player or burning it or leaving it on your pc. this is good because your not limited to what you are able to do with that music download.

Those are problems if you have no problem with ownership.

    They're all collectively problems.
