could anyone help me out or give me some information on the following PS3 problem. i downloaded the latest PS3 update i think it was V3.15, it downloaded ok but when it installs the update it gets up as far as 62% and crashes everytime! i have been told by sony that it is a firmware error within the PS3 (but i am not beleving anything sony tell me as they just want me to send them the PS3 and they send me a refurbished one at a cost of £131 and lets be honest here sony have yet to admit that the early PS3 where floored wuth faults leading to the dreaded YLOD) I have been told my a friend that the cashe settings on the PS3 are the problem and the cashe needs to be cleared! could anyone tell me if this is correct and how do i do it? as once the system crashes it is stuck at that point, if you turn off the system it just starts the installation again and ten crashes at 62% really would be grateful for any help.
Here is a good tip. Back up everything on the hard drive, and do a FULL format (sync your trophies with the server if your worried) and try installing it after it's formatted, if it's failed to load the firmware...then your screwed and sony get's your cash. But there is another possibility...are you downloading your firmware directly via the ps3 or from the website? Or you already have the firmware ready to install? (And what exact model is yours-may help)
Hi tks for the reply, the update was downloaded from sony. i wil try to reformat etc let you know if it works! the ps3 is the 1st edition from the original ps3 launch 60gb with memory card slots 4 usb ports and able to play PS1/2 games. regards robby
WOW I'm envious, I hope it works, I'd hate to have that happen to me... ..again. [me=hYpNoS]had an 80gb console second hand but heat issues and constant freezing forced him to pay the extra $50 for a slim[/me]
