I just recently got a PS3 for a house warming gift from one of my bestfriends. Anyway's the problem I'm having is that I can't play any of my PS2 game's on it. I thought the PS3 was suppose to play Ps2 game's? I even went out and bought the Madden 07 for PS2 (because the PS3 version is garbage) and it didn't work. It keeps saying wrong region code. Isn't the PS3 suppose to be region free? Even my DVD movies don't work in it unless it's a back up copy of the DVD(Assuming that the region code's are taken off). This is really pissing me off. If anyone know's what is going on please help.......

Sorry to laugh, but only ps3 games are region free, and only the 60gb ps3 model can run ps2 games (and another type I forgot if your outside euro/australia)

As for the dvd's, prehaps it's damaged (the dvd's) or the ps3 is from another country and doesn't like the region.

Try asking where the seller got it from, otherwise stick to blueray movies and ps3 games as they'll work no problems.

(Also wouldn't a newer madden game be better just asking?)

Should have done more research, or use a better website to buy your PS3.

new PS3s are not backwards compatible with PS2. only the ones with 4 USB ports are. (coincidence, but its an easy way of telling). Also PS2 games are region coded so they will only work on the correct PS3 region. PS3 games are region free. PS3 is also not region free for DVD movies.
