hey guys, i understand that this is an emulation site and whatnot, but i trust you guys, and cant really be bothered signing up to another forum to get an answer.

basically im installing yellow dog linux on my ps3 (well..im downloading linux just now anyway)

and i was wondering if, because i have an 80GB PS3 with about 40gb free space, would i be able to install linux by partitioning a chunk of it, instead of formatting the system, thus deleting all my game saves etc?

any help would be greatly appreciated

When my friend did it, he said he HAD to format, as he couldn't find a way to do a partition of sorts.

You could just back up all your saves on a pen drive and then format, then you won't lose your saves.
