i have upgraded my ps3 hdd and now im goin to my friends to use his ps3 to transfer my data from his ps3 (with my hdd in) to my new one will this affect his ps3 in any way? and also i have an external hdd could i use it (partitioned) to backup both GAME data and SAVE data?
If you can, I would recommend using the external hard drive. Unless you have many HD movies, the game and save data really should not be that big of a file, and I think you are going through more hassle than necessary. Go with what ever is easier for you, using another PS3 will not damage the data. miros
My suggestion is to go to the sony playstation forums and ask, use your psn log in to use it. They helped alot
If i was you just use the External HDD its faster because you dont have to go to your friends house and waste petrol and keep the world green!!
It's not faster. Doing it this way makes no sense. Before you decide to upgrade your PS3 HDD, use the backup utility on the system and put the data on the external. THen you can put the new harddrive in and there you'd be good to go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTKbz2XAtPg&feature=related There's a good video to help you out.
