The PS3 scene has the biggest bunch of egos I've ever seen.

weren't the keys leaked years ago?

That was the root key, which allowed you to run unsigned code and is patchable. Lvl 0 Keys are hardware level, meaning Sony can't do a damn thing now.

Awesome. Does this mean that someone can hack the PS2 compatibility back into the new models of the PS3?

So, if a ps3 gets hacked like this, will Sony still ban you from PSN?

No. The software is probably there, but it's disabled for a reason, i.e it doesn't work. Basically the so-called 'software PS2 emulation' models aren't all software, they're hardware assisted, vs full hardware in the initial US models. PS3s with 'hardware PS2 emulation' contain both an emotion engine and a PS2 graphics chip, while PS3s with 'software PS2 emulation' contain a PS2 graphics chip only, with the emotion engine emulated in software. The PS3 models with no PS2 compatibility contain neither the emotion engine nor the PS2 graphics chip. Sony tried to emulate both in software but failed, and gave up.

Yes. Unless you manage to hide or spoof your firmware version, they'll probably catch you.

And if they catch you, apparently your console is as good as bricked. Or so I read.
