The Burnout franchise has always been one of my favorite ones. The mayhem, destruction and high speeds. This game stays somewhat true to that but it has lost some of the charm that made Burnout enjoyable :'( that's why I'll keep this short and sweet. There were many aspects to this franchise that made it unique and at the same time enjoyable. Some of these things are missing in this game and that takes away from the expectations of what a Burnout game should be. Presentation (7/10) No presentation needed, here's a car go and crash into things. Plain and simple. Same concept here, you start out with a crappy vehicle and as you progress you acquire better and bigger ones. Though the difference between the past games to this one is the way to choose the events. That part I did not like . I miss the world map where you pick the event, do it and move on. In this game you have to drive through a map much like Need for Speed to find the events. Running across Paradise City while keeping up with the map gets irritating. Also you work through a license theme where the more events you finish, the better of a license you acquire. The events get very repetitive after a few minutes of playing, race here or race there. Graphics (9/10) Top notch graphics. The details of the world and vehicle were great specially when you crash into something or someone, the way the slow motion cam shows you how your vehicle is destroyed. No real complaints here. ;D Sound (7/10) Great radio, but some songs became annoying after a while. The SFX of the vehicles was well implemented, it actually sounded like a vehicle and not a lawnmower. At times though I would rather turn the volume all the way down and turn my radio up. Gameplay (8/10) Here is where the good and bad mix together. Like I said before I do not like driving around trying to find events, leave that to Need for Speed. Another thing that the gameplay was lacking was the total exclusion of the destruction events where you drive into traffic and try to rack up as much cash in from the destruction you created. As long as I have been playing this game I have not seen this event pop up. To me that was what made Burnout great, to take it out was just a horrible mistake. Also the repetitive of the events, you race from one point of the map to another, start a new event and they make you race to where you just came from. It doesn't have the same feel that the old games had, maybe that's my problem, that I try to compare it to older, greater titles. The controls are on point, very well responsive and the control of the vehicle is tight. The only thing that is not good about the controls is the sixaxis utilization. I'm glad you get the choice to use it or not because it just doesn't work, specially when you're driving at about 100 mph. Sixaxis is something that this game can do without. Lasting Appeal (7/10) All in all it is a good leisure game but not something that I would play for hours. The only reason that I would play older Burnout games for hours was to unlock vehicles to cause more destruction in the destruction events. With those gone it's just another Need for Speed clone, but with cool crashes :-\. Overall (38/50) Out of Ten (7.6/10)
Re: (PS3) Burnout Paradise - enterrador666 you have not given an adequate description of the game, and you must also include screenshots of it.
Re: (PS3) Burnout Paradise - enterrador666 Basically, it's like Crash and Burn, am I right? So, if I have a crash, race, destroy game, it's the same thing, and I don't need another one of htem... Unlike you guys, I fully understood this thing
Wait, we have to have screenshots? Guess I missed that... The review gets the point across, but expanding on the ideas can help to better explain the issues that you had with the game and what exactly you liked about it. If you could go into greater detail, that would be great. But, otherwise, what have have now is good, but it could be a lot better.
