So i run a PS3 60gb model with a 320gb upgrade. I run lunix on a second hard drive. I just wanted to hear other people thoughts about staying or upgrading the PS3 and lose Linux. Hell CFW would be nice so i can keep running lunix and maybe one day be able to eboot all my PSX games and store them on my PS3. But i am at the point where i am about to update my system.
Well...if you know how to disassemble a PS3, solder so meticulously that you may damage the board with one false move, know how to send an electrical pulse at the right time to over-ride the hyper-visor, and how to envision directions before you do them so that you don't screw up, then I'd so hack it, but don't if you are unsure about anything I just stated above. There is no real advantage of "hacking" your PS3. It's just a waste of time as of now. I don't have a PS3 Phat, but I wouldn't get all sour about updating and getting rid of Linux unless you don't want to play newer games. Currently there's no way of blocking updates like there are with the Wii. And besides, it is a LONG time before there is anything useful out of this "hack" or "CFW" for the PS3.
Ethier you leave it as is and stick with the only homebrew you have as...not much else is being made now. Or update so you can play online.
There is nothing coming of this hack as of now. It's up to you really. I see no advantage of the CFW that GeoHot has made. It has no real purpose and you can' teven do squat with it really like I said before.
