Hi., Is it possible to make a copy of an original PS2 Disc for backup up. My son is five and he has VERY sticky fingers...... I put one in my DVD writer and made an exact copy of the disc, looked when it was complete and it is exactly the same size, file content etc.. but the PS2 doesn't recognise it. I read elsewhere on the forum about putting the original disc in first then replacing it with a copy once loaded, I shall try this when my daughter stops watching CBBC.., but if he scratched the disc so bad that the machine wouldn't load the disc then this wouldn't be much use anyway.. Any suggestions...? thanks --------------------------------------------- found this: http://www.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_how-to-use.htm Any good..?
A ps2 can't read the disc unless it's been modified-the software inside prevents backups running. Mod chips are the best way-problem is they can reduce the consoles life span-but as of now they are cheap to replace. And when you burn the disc...here are some suggestions... -Don't use anything other than img burn (it's free) to burn and record disc-nero is too fast for safe backups -Use 4x speed when coping or burning-any higher can put extra strain on the ps2's laser and can increase the chance of a bad disc being made -Keep the data dump-or "iso" just in case-if the back up and original dies then you may have troubles... -They can vary from 500mb to 14GB-the one's below 750mb can be burnt onto a cd-but any higher will need ethier need standard dvd or dual layer dvd-only one's that need that are metal gear solid and god of war games. I do this often-so I learnt from experience
