So, I've been thinking about this tech lately. Eyetoy sounds neat on paper, but does it really work? And are any eye-toy compatible games worth purchasing the eyetoy for?

Seeing as the ET is fairly cheap now It may be a cool peripheral to try.

From what I gather, it was okay for what it was. The only games for it were very simple, and it never really caught on primarily due to the fact that the detection technology is sub-par. If you can find it for cheap, it may be worth a go.

don't waste your money! save your money for a ps3/360/wii game or something else like movie and dinner for two. sony has no idea what to do with it, just as how sony has no idea what to do with the move.

I can answer both those questions. No, and No. Don't piss away your money on it.

The PS2 was probably one of the greatest consoles that I ever owned. I still have mine and it is very wonderful to play it.

I never have played with the Eye Toy. It always looked kinda iffy...So I never bought it.

I had it, it was terrible. The games we're all stupid casual shit you'll only play for 5 minutes before putting down. Doesn't matter which game you bought, they we're all relatively the same games.

so there you go! two people who said that it isn't worth the money to get a ps2 eyetoy.

btw, the ps2 eyetoy should be a precursor [what is to come] to how the ps3 move will be, that is dead on the water. sony had the damn device before nintendo even made a wii and look at the type of games that were made for it. if that is the idea of motion control games to sony, then frankly the move will not be successful. if sony knew what to do with the ps3 move, then why didn't they show something that wasn't already on the wii?! nintendo made the wii and look how successful they are. clearly nintendo understands what to do with it.

How is the Eyetoy anything like the move? One is a motion sensing camera, the other is a remote control...

Eyetoy is worth the money if you plan on using it as a webcam too.

    Best webcam ever.

you ask the wrong question to the wrong person. everytime someone mentions that the wii is the first console to use motion controls, someone would mention how the sony ps2 was the first console to have motion controls with the eyetoy being able to detect motion and doing a better job then the wii. all i'm doing is equating what these people have said about the ps2 eyetoy as a motion device like that of the wii. and if we consider that, we could say that the ps3 move will be a failure because if the ps2 eyetoy as a motion device failed, then the ps3 eyetoy will fail as well. but then people would say, the ps3 move will not fail because of the wiis popularity of using motion controls. but why didn't the wii failed if the motion controls were already available for the most popular console last generation, the ps2.

so you see, sony doesn't know what to do with the device and the concept. it is a precursor to what will happen with the sony ps3 move. sony said they have had the idea since the eyetoy. so why is the release of the ps3 move full of games on the wii?! shouldn't sony have made prototype motion control games which they could have use for the ps3 move as a launch title?! sony have had this thing since the ps2 and at launch of the ps3 move, sony will not have original made games but clones of games from a different console. very nice move sony! sony had a motion device for such a long time and release a new product they had with clones rather then their own games. it clearly shows that sony doesn't know what to do with it. sony is just waiting for nintendo!

Man, you need to quit using a wall of text to Sony bash. Nobody really gives a shit.

why so concerned with sony being bashed?! nintendo gets bashed all the time and no one is concerned. sony is bashed and people are very concerned. wii gamers are bashed and they just walk away. hardcore gamers are bashed, all of them fly from all around the world and stop by the forum to support each others puppetism.

i tried various sites actually trying sample methods of writing to explain. i've used quick, simple and to the point but it doesn't work. if you go quick, simple and to the point, it leads to a scene like that of someone learning to drive a car the first time, that is go, stop, go, stop,..... the point is made but the reader is linear, so they will question where the idea comes from. then that becomes a problem and that becomes in question and from there we repeat the previous step until somehow you introduce something new because you have to and the reader would go, aha, you were wrong because of this.

Everybody bashes systems, yes. You have this incessant need to enter nearly any Sony thread you can where even an ounce of relevance could be held for bashing. I'm going to reiterate this point, and others can feel free to confirm it.

Nobody wants to hear bashing. Your opinions are overly biased and are heavily influenced by whatever crappy internet story you've most recently read. When I first started posting back in March, I watched you bash Nintendo AND Sony and basically praise Microsoft as the almighty. Now you're in this thread defending Nintendo and bashing Sony.

Basically, you're two faced opinion is worthless to anybody seeking solid advice regarding a gaming console.

Also, no, I did not read yet another wall of text.

I wonder if I have learned anything here. Perhaps that the eyetoy is crap. Perhaps not REALLY crap.

So these are the ET titles I feel are the coolest.

    Any good?

Eyetoy play 2 and 3 (I hear 1 REALLY blows)

    Eyetoy Groove

    Sega Superstars

Eyetoy antigrav (looks like sonic riders)

Eyetoy Monkey Mania (With ape escape chars)

Eyetoy Kinetic and kinetic combat (if i can find a camera w/ the widelens attachment

Eyetoy hero (If i can use anything for the sword)

So how bout some facts instead o hatin :)

The best I can advise is to look up reviews on each game and get a general idea of what people thought about them. I don't own an Eye Toy, nor do I know anybody who owned one. Most people weren't overly impressed like I said, but it seemed like it was good for a few hours of fun at a time.

Except he is right, the eyetoy was really pointless, i don't think many games that use it even exist

I just don't want to read half a page of why it sucks and the Move will fail and why everything Sony does is pointless because they're a failure as a company.

Would it have been so difficult to leave it at "The Eye Toy sucked?"
