    ok so i have 2 PS2's, one 100% working and 1 0% working and modded (mod-chip)

It's been working for months and months and then it stopped working, its been making weird clicking noises and doesn't read the discs, its goes "

clickity click click click click and forever and when the disc loads, it doesn't go past a loading screen AKA if i wanted to play WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, it would say now loading and then be a blank screen and click forever! the clicking comes from the machine, sometimes it just no disc read error, i really wanna burn SVR09, how can i fix this problems?

Sounds like the optical drive is dead/dying.

I wonder how hard or easy it is to replace or repair them.

i've heard in some cases it's the laser voltage or the laser dusty, any more ideas?

Well, the Playstations have always been haunted by poorly designed lasers. They tended to warp and get misaligned from heat (even minimal heat) caused by hours of playing. It happened a lot on the PS1, and the problem was not corrected on the PS2. I dunno about the PS3, but I'd hope that after 3 generations they'd fix it.

But, the clicking makes me think that it's not merely an alignment or dust problem, that there may be physical damage or the motor failing. I personally wouldn't try to put your discs in a drive that was clicking like that since they could be damaged as well.

    Yes.

Do it carefully and by the book, and it will not hurt anything. I did the same thing to my Original PSX, but instead of a white dial to adjust the lens there is a small screw that you turn to amplify the laser itself.

Follow all the directions and use proper tools (don't be using kitchen knives because you can't find a screwdriver!!)

How old are you? Just take it somewhere else in the house and do it yourself :)

Or tell him to fork over the cash for a new PS2 since he won't let you fix the old one. *whistles innocently*

What's he going to do with a broken PS2, seriously?

It's broken (doesn't work), in the end either it will work or it won't work. You will either gain a fixed device or you will have exactly what you have right now. Warranty is a non-issue because it's a modded PS2, and it's 99% likely to be out of it's warranty time anyway.

Tell your old man to listen to the 100s of people who have had this happen to the Playstation Ones and Twos.
