Hey, all. I picked up a shiny new 32" digital TV today for my dvds and games. It is a sylvania and is compatible with 480p (which makes some games like god of war 2 look WAY better). However, the standard Composite Audio/Video inputs only give me 480i. My PS2 is model SPCH-90001 "super slim". There's only two outputs on the back; composite out (standard) and digital out (?). If "digital out" is 480p, what cord do I need for it and how much will it cost me? Thanks a lot. PU Oh, btw the digital out jack is really small and there is a flap covering it, if that helps.
digital out is audio only. It's optical and is used to connect the PS2 to hifi equipment. You must use the composite out port.
Okay then. Audio sound nice enough already. Now ,for the composite port is there a 480i-480p cable that works for it, or am I missing a port from older models? Kratos just isn't right when he looks furry. EDIT: Will this cord work? For at least 480p? the item itself: http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Resolution-Component-Cable-Playstation/dp/B001QVH18Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1280843700&sr=1-1 EDIT: It is MADE for 480p. I'll just get one without the HDMI ccable cause I dont have any HDMI consoles/CPUs.
no that is a component cable. Completely different to composite. Interlaced and progressive scan are fundamentally different so you wont be able to get a cable that converts.
Yeah, it IS component, completely different. It has five inputs instead of three and is better quality. Sony's output from the console is actually neither composite or component. Sony says that composite cord like this gives some ps2 games (GOW, Jaks) 480p.
