This is good in 2 ways, not only can we pirate ps3 games once again (once complete), but also no one is gonna profit from this.

THIS IS WHAT PIRATING IS ABOUT-NOT PROFITING BUT OPENING THE DOOR TO THOSE WHO CAN'T AFFORD (or too lazy :p )!

Until of course, Sony decides to patch things up again.

If smart people don't update firmware, they'll be good, then again sony can just ban individual consoles...

But smart people don't care about playing online :p

Considering that the device turns the PS3 into a developer unit, it's going to be difficult for Sony to patch, which is why they're trying so hard to prevent the sale of these units. But at this point it's impossible to stop it.

Note by patch up I didn't say exactly how. But Sony will do it.

    They can easily patch it.

They can just disable the USB ports.

Now, if they can do this for the PSP, since the latest official firmware is being such a pain in the ass...

    Please explain better?

We have custom firmware, unlike the ps3 which almost had a cfw of it's own.

Well, like the 360 and Wii, all they have to do is don't update, unless of course they want to play online or go onto the psn. But i guess if they really want to download and play the 10 or so games that were actually put online, more power to them.

    That's IF you do update.

If you don't and skip online play, you might have a chance at gameplay.

If you want this, and you update just to play online...as the psp forums said for hacking...

    Indeed.

The thing will probably be ported to several devices, they're almost done working on the Android one and iPhone one.

That being said, it'll be interesting if it'll end up like the PSP and they'll keep upgrading the software to circumvent the PS3 firmware updates.
