    Just thought I'd bring this up, since no one else mentioned it and it's in need of discussion...?

    Anyway, yeah, Nintendo announced it. The Project Café, or the second Wii console if you will. It will be a new system like the 3DS (obviously).

    Nintendo won't be releasing information about this Café until E3 because they're afraid Sony and Microsoft will jack ideas off of them D= Guess we're going to have to wait

    My assumption is that it will be like the Wii except it will hav HD added (or 3D like the 3DS.. eh >_>)

    What about you guys?

    Hopefully it doesn't go the way of the Wii and have Motion controls, not a fan of them.

    There are a number of rumors about this, including the fact that it will have significant backwards compatibility (so motion controls are likely to be a feature) and that it will natively support 1080p, as well as running a core from AMD.

    That said, no technical specifications have been confirmed.

    That might actually be a first in the console industry. the majority of consoles have used either powerpc or ARM processors so far.

    Made me wonder how people were able to play with imprecise controls

    Also made me wonder how this made the Wii a bestseller

    So what does that mean then? More power--->better graphics? And what about the size of the console if they're using that technology? Will it be bigger/smaller compared to Wii?

    Nintendo goes all "Oh it's all about the gameplay" so I don't think that's likely

    However, that isn't a bad addition to this new system..

    How can anyone answer those questions? Given that any smartphone produced in the last two year or so is more "powerful" than the Wii, an upgrade to the Wii's hardware doesn't necessarily mean a larger console (I'm not saying the new Nintendo home console will be using a smartphone/tablet chipset). I hope that Nintendo will try to put out a console that actually has considerably better capabilities than the 360, at least; but, given the crappy specs of the 3DS, I'm not getting my hopes up.

    There was an 1up article that had some leaked images of how the controls would be, first it seems they will be wirelss controls, they will be both touch based and button based controls, it might end having a screen two sticks and the buttons on the sides, it seems it will download live feed of the game onto your control, a possible use is that if OOT were remade for the cafe the inventroy screen would be accesible all the time with no need of pausing the game, you would touch the Bow icon and link would equip the bow item, or if its an FPS you touch the gun and the character switches the gun, i will try to find the 1 up article.

    Well the person is half way rigth, nintendo always innovates, the SNES, the N64 the GC the wii all were fresh concepts, the café offers new posibilities, if the touchscreen based control is true, then it's a new step, as i said on my post, the idea of not having to pause every 5 seconds to seek the item i want or to check in live feed the map as some DS games did is a great idea or for metroid have a radar that pin points were the enemies are and so on (not simple dots like it was on MP but rather small images of war wasps or ings or whatever).

    Lol the touchscreen controller itself is something worth getting the system for.

    Just think how much easier it will be to touch instead of having to scroll through different screens

    Bad wording on my side soz, I meant to ask whether AMD core is/was more powerfull compared to the ARM or powerpc ones mentioned earlier in this thread. Generally speaking of course. I realize there are differences between products from the same series.

    I'm not so into this tech stuff so I don't know whether or not ARM and AMD take huge amounts of space, whether the technology is compact or not etc. So I was just being curious if somebody knew this, since it seems to be some sort of news that the next gen Wii uses AMD core supposedly.

    E* From the 1up article
    "4) Games will be distributed primarily through digital download.
    Hahahahahahahahaha! ::pauses to regain composure::

    Doubtful. In going with their M.O., Nintendo’s support for digital distribution (or, you know, the “internet” in general) is the weakest among the Big Three**. Possible...but I would probably shit a brick."

    xD

    @Duncan Idaho: I want to post responses, but I'm too demoralised by the thought of having to describe reality in such a way that it would make sense to you.

    @Ravte
    AMD make compact processors, but they're "compact" by PC standards and are usually destined for laptops (and possibly tablets, in the future). ARM partly specialise in small, low-power, low-heat processors for devices (as do many other companies); ARM processors are chosen for a lot of phones, tablets and e-readers. It isn't so much the processor itself that dictates the size of the device, but rather the motherboard and cooling for said processor (as well as all of the other components). It isn't really possible to give an accurate estimation of the size of the console going on just the company whom makes the processor (or even by the exact processor to be used).

    EDIT: I didn't capitalise Ravte's name, sorry Ravte.

    Told ya I wasn't a tech-wise at all :D
