professor layton black screen issue

I have tried to run in both NO$GBA 2.6 and 2.6a under the reccomended FRAM 32kb but i still get a black screen straight after i click new game before i can even put a name in.

i downloaded the ROM file from here (2002 - Professor Layton And The Curious Village (U)(Micronauts).nds)

could anyone please reccomend something else i could try...up until now this is the first game i have had any issues with running in the emulator.

 

Try changing the save type to Auto in 2.6a, which might work.

 

i had it on auto in 2.6a to start with (found that works with the rest of the games i have) and thought that should work but i still get the black screen...i also just noticed i dont get any % of emulation speed next to the title at the top of the screen

 

Probably it's uncompatible.

 

It is incompatible, I have tried it, no matter the configuration it won't work.
