Problems with the Sega Saturn ISOs from this site?

I've gotten Shining The Holy Ark and Shining Force III from this site for Sega Saturn, but neither of them are working on the two main emulators (Yabause and Satourne). I've spoken with the creator of Satourne and he is convinced that the problem is with the ISO itself. I also thought it was kinda weird how the ISOs were compressed in exe files instead of a typical rar or zip. Is there anyone who can shed some light on what potential problems could be? Thanks!

it's not weird, it is the most logical thing to do. UHARC offers far higher compression than either rar or zip, and the .exe makes things easier for people because .uha (uharc non self extracting archive) would throw them entirely. The compression format is irrelevant to the files contained within the archive.

The files you are talking about are not ISO files per se, they are .cue/.bin files used by cloneCD. If your emulator cannot read these files, you will need a virtual CD program such as Elby CloneDrive (google it). this will enable you to mount the .cue/.bin files to a virtual drive letter so that it appears to be a real disc.

Yeah, that's the same thing as an ISO, more or less. I already tried mounting them on Daemon Tools, but while it mounted successfully (a folder full of files opened up), it still didn't work in either emulator.

if the emulator has a 'run CD' option then try that, otherwise you might have to copy the virtual drive to an ISO file (try imgburn for this)

Well, I tried the ISOs from another site, and they worked fine. So there is definitely something up with the ones from here. Maybe they are those ISO MP3s I keep hearing about? Not sure exactly what it is, but apparently it's something to do with Saturn ISOs that people don't want.

Oh, and I did try that mounting ISO, etc, but that all failed as well.

apparently they need to be run through a program called CDMage to work.

I had this same problem, and didn't think the answer here was clear enough, so I wanted to add my two cents. The games in question (as well as some others possibly) have corrupted sectors on the image. This could be the result of a bad rip to the initial files, or a smudge or something on the disk itself when it was being ripped, but the solution is to run it through any program that will detect bad sectors on the CD and fix them. CDMage, which was recommended, is a freeware program that does just that and it worked perfectly for me after that.
