Problems with Saving on Pokemon SoulSilver/HeartGold

I'm using a R4i, v 2.2. The games seem to work fine until I try to save "a lot of data". The game screens freeze but the music keeps on playing. No matter what I do or how long I wait, the screens are still stuck trying to save the game. I've converted the .sav file to 1 mb which I heard would solve the problem but it didn't. Can anyone help?

Bump? I've tried the freezing patches and also tried removing the other games on the R4. Still having issues.

Should this be in the Games Help Section instead?
