Hello, I'm new to romulation.net and am having problems extracting the ROM i downloaded for pokemon Heart Gold.

this is the rom: 4748-Pokemon HeartGold (U) (Xenophobia)

This isn't the only rom I have had trouble with, it seems to be all of them, including Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

I downloaded winrar and when the rom finally finishes downloading I choose winrar to open it with, then right click the file and choose "Extract here"

I immediatly get an error message reporting the following: "The rom is either in an unknown format or damaged." and "no archives found"

I have downloaded the rom at least 5 times and the problem still persists.

I also sometimes get "The file is corrupt" or "unexpected end to archieve"

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to play my pokemon, but can't afford a DS as I am only a poor college student.

    Thanks

Hey! I'm a college bum too! XD

What you can do is redownload the rom again and see if that helps.

If not then download it using a download manager.

Your file is corrupt most likely.

If the file is corrupt, will downloading it again possibly fix that? Sorry I'm no good at computers when it comes to technical stuff like this. Sadly I work at Best Buy...

probably didn't finish downloading fully. reset your connection to the ISP, and re-download.

You can delete the corrupted file.

Then redownload it again and see if that one is not corrupt.

If so then use a download manager.

They help with not corrupting files.
I use FlashGet, DownThemAll, and JDownloader. :p

Damn it! I made my character and as I go into the world the sceen goes black, still hearing music.

I changed the "Reset/Startup Entrypoint" to "GBA BIOS" in emulation set up, but the rom image crashed and reset the cartridge. Now I can even start no$gba.

    This sucks :(

I tried to use the fix to make the screen not go black, so now I can't even start the game up.

I get to the same point every time, create my character and when I shrink into the world, the screen goes black, the music is still playing though. Is there a patch or method to fix this? I tried the method of changing the startup/entry point, no cigar there, didnt work. Any ideas?

    Thanks a lot guys.

For the GBA BIOS thingy, you need a file called GBABIOS.ROM or something like that.
The link above provide with it and some tutorial :)

I downloaded the fix thing that was posted up there. The repacked rom and bios, but I don't know what to do with the bios. I double click and my computer tries to open the bios7 and bios9 with adobe reader. It then says the file is either not supported or damaged.

You just need to put the Bios files in your no$gba folder.
