problem with my NDS lite, and question/possible problems of the cause...

hello all, i am wondering, is the Nintendo DS lite susceptible to cold? the main reason for my questiong is because last week, i was playing my ds fine, now this week (today) the hinge on the top screen is very weak, and the top screen won't come on. DX i'm pretty much wondering if this was caused by having my AC set to 35o and if it will possibly go back to normal, and wheter i will need to repair/replace it.
