well, i've been told moonshell can handle retro games along with movies and pictures, but i put a smc file onto my card, plugged it into my ds, started up moonshell, pressed it, and nothing happened. so, is there something i need to do or is it not possible?

unsure about games side, but plays DPG movies and MP3s, also unsure about pictures, will do some research

    Edit:
    From Wiki
The player supports DPG video files, MP3 / OGG / MOD / SPC / MDX(no PCM)/ GBS / HES / NSF / XM / MIDI / low bit rate AAC audio / non-progressive JPEG / BMP / GIF / PNG images, and text files. MoonShell plays fullscreen videos at 20fps and widescreen videos at 24fps, with joint stereo sound at a samplerate of 32.768KHz. Both screens on the DS are used, with the bottom screen allowing file selection and control via touchscreen. The integrated plug-in system provides extensibility of program features. To add a feature, the plug-in files are simply copied to the appropriate folder. In order to function as a media player, several plug-in files are distributed with the software.

You will need to use an emulator to run SNES games. Like this one for example: http://www.snemul.com/ds/

I don't know much about emulation on the DS but you will probably need an emulator for most of the systems.

Some softwares require DLDIrc patching for Slot-1 too :)
